Barefoot Marching & Strength in Vulnerability - Chris Brannigan, Hope for Hasti
Chris Brannigan is an Army Officer, father of three and co-founder of the charity Hope for Hasti. In July 2020, he set off on a 700 mile barefoot march across the UK with the aim of raising funds for the research and development of a gene therapy for his daughter Hasti, who has the rare genetic condition Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS).
Anyone who followed his journey would have been struck by the sheer grit and determination that Chris displayed in achieving his goal, managing to surpass all expectation and raise over £500,000. But what was equally remarkable, was Chris' willingness to share both the physical and psychological impact of this challenge so openly and honestly with those who were supporting him.
In this episode, Chris shares what motivated him to take on such a gruelling journey and the aspects he found most challenging. He also discusses how the kindness and support he received and the connections he made along the way have shifted his perspective and made a fundamental difference to his outlook on life.
