Heather Sharp is the founder of Forces Wives Challenge, a charity that aims to inspire partners of serving Armed Forces personnel to participate in and set up their own adventures.

Heather served 10 years in the Army before leaving due to the pressures of bringing up a young family. On leaving, she found her preconceptions of military spouses shattered by the diverse, dynamic and resilient group of women she encountered, all of whom had made immense personal sacrifice to support their partners' careers in the military.

Aware of the many opportunities she had whilst serving to go on operations, exercises and lead expeditions, she wanted to give the wider military community the chance to experience the same sense of purpose and shared experience. The first Forces Wives Challenge trip was an expedition to Chile to scale the world's highest volcano in March 2019 and Heather has run a number of trips - both in person and virtual - since.

In this conversation, Heather talks about her motivation for starting FWC and what inspires her to keep going when faced with challenges. She also highlights the importance of both believing in your own idea and of listening to those who support it, in order to bring a dream to life.
