Outdoor Fitness and Finding your Tribe - Liz Lowe

Nicki Bass Season 1 Episode 2

Send us a text

In this episode, I talk to Liz Lowe, a freelance journalist and mother of two young children, about her adventures in taking up first wild swimming and then triathlon.

Liz is someone I have known for a while, but I became really inspired following her outdoor fitness journey on social media. She has gone from being unable to swim front crawl a couple of years ago, to completing the Wild Wye 7km swim last year, with imminent plans for the Dart 10k. She got started on her swimming adventure by joining Wiltshire Wild Swim and has since taken up triathlon, joining a local triathlon club (Team Proto-Col Multisport) and completing several Sprint tris. She also recently participated solo in the Bath Half Marathon along a canal as lockdown kicked in!

Liz talks candidly about the trepidation she experienced getting started, the sense of community she has found in both the wild swimming and triathlon clubs she joined and how she balances her fitness journey with family commitments.

You can find out more about Liz and follow her adventures over on Instagram @lizloweuk & Wiltshire Wild Swim @wiltshirewildswim
